There are moments in this industry that remind you why you started. Why you pick up the camera. Why you chase the wake, the salt, the roar of a diesel engine firing up in the morning. For me, those moments happened back-to-back—two unforgettable days during the 67th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, capturing the grit and glory of Carolina boat building at its finest.
I had the absolute privilege of filming two very special features: a behind-the-scenes tour of Jarrett Bay Boatworks in Beaufort, NC—where a new 90’ custom build is taking shape—and a full walk-through of Reel Development, an 84’ custom Jarrett Bay sportfisher docked and gleaming during a tournament lay day. These weren’t just boat tours—they were deep dives into legacy, innovation, and the people who make this world move.
Day One: Inside Jarrett Bay Boatworks
We started strong inside the iconic Jarrett Bay Boatworks facility, where the Carolina magic happens. Filmed during a lay day at Big Rock 2025, this behind-the-scenes look offered rare access to the early stages of a new 90’ custom sportfisher—a beast in the making.
Anthony Williams (@getchoassup on YouTube | @completeoutdoors on Instagram) walked us through the yard alongside Peyton from Jarrett Bay, who provided the kind of technical insight that only someone deeply involved in the build process can offer. Together, they broke down structure, layout, and design decisions with a clarity that brought the story of the boat to life.

Day Two: Aboard “Reel Development”
On Day 2, we headed to the docks to film a full walk-through of “Reel Development,” an 84' custom Jarrett Bay sportfisher that commands attention. Anthony once again led the way with Peyton, showing off everything from engine room to bridge, from teak to tower.
The boat was docked during a Big Rock lay day, and it was the perfect time to slow down and soak in the detail—the elegant lines, the precision systems, the feel of something built for both power and prestige.
We were also joined by Ben from Northern Sights Media, who brought his creative insight and collaborative spirit to filming. While I handled the main production through East Coast Saltwater Living, Ben’s presence added another layer of energy to the project.

Final Thoughts
These two days weren’t just about content—they were about culture. About showcasing the people who put their heart and soul into the boats we chase marlin from. About capturing a part of Big Rock that most never see: the blood, sweat, and sawdust behind the shine.
