🎣 MONDAY MORNING WEEKEND RECAP - May 4, 2026

OUTER BANKS

Boats fishing saw a mixed but active early May bite offshore this weekend.

TUNA: Yellowfin made up most of the action. Some boats found a steady pick, others bounced around looking for it. Not wide open, but enough bites coming over the rails to keep things moving.

WAHOO: Wahoo showed up in the spread throughout the weekend. Not across the board, but enough fish hit the docks to confirm they’re in the mix right now.

MAHI: Mahi have been making an appearance with some big boys showing up in the spread.

BOTTOM LINE: Yellowfin Tuna are here, wahoo are in the mix, and mahi are beginning to show off. Typical early May offshore setup—not wide open, but definitely moving in the right direction.

MOREHEAD CITY

Out of Morehead City, the offshore bite showed more consistency overall through the weekend.

WAHOO: Wahoo were one of the more reliable fish being reported. Multiple boats connecting, with fish showing up consistently enough to stay part of the game plan.

MAHI: Mahi action is building. More sightings and catches compared to earlier weeks, especially around cleaner water and weed lines.

SAILFISH: Early sailfish encounters reported. Not a full push, but they’re starting to show up in the spread.

TUNA: Still some tuna being caught, but not the primary focus compared to the rest of the bite.

WHAT STOOD OUT: Cleaner water and more defined edges gave boats a better shot at staying on productive areas throughout the day.

BOTTOM LINE: Wahoo leading, mahi building, sails starting to show. Morehead is settling into a solid early-season offshore pattern.
