February is notably the coldest month along the NC and SC coast and a lot of anglers stay inside either prepping for the upcoming season or staying in shallower waters.  With that in mind we made this month’s box about things you could currently use if you’re willing to brave the cold, as always, they are items that will be just as perfect in the upcoming warmer months.

One thing we know for certain is that there are fish out there this time of year and they are definitely biting but it so important to pick your days and pay close attention to the weather.

sea bass rig

Right now, the Black Bass are biting well off the coast of North Carolina. With that in mind we included a Black Sea Bass rig ($10.99 value) as they are in season if you travel South of Cape Hatteras. The Blue Water Candy Sea Bass Rig comes rigged with two 5/0 circle hooks on a 100 lb. mono line, 2 three way swivels, and a loop for the lead weight. Not only is this rig excellent for black sea bass but it is also good for porgies, grunts and other bottom fish.

blue water candy wedgie

We also included a BWC Wedgie ($16.99 value) that is perfect for Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel and even the stray Tuna. The wedge shape creates a diving, wobbling action that brings ballyhoo, cigar minnows, squid, and other baits back to life. The Blue Water Candy Wedgie is Rigged with 60# AFW Seven Strand with a 4/0 3407 Mustad and #4 treble hook.

Big Nic Fishing Lures Diamond Jig

Lastly, we included a big 6 oz Diamond Jig ($19.99 value) to use when you are searching for fish as they love the fast action and vibrant color of this lure. The Big Nic Fishing Diamonds Jig delivers tons of fish-attracting flash, making this saltwater lure perfect for fish like Spanish mackerel, bonito, false albacore, and bluefish. Large eyes give predators a target and the sticky. A Sharp VMC 4X Permasteel treble hook is attached to this lure.

Let us know what you think of this month's box and what you want to see next month!
