Monday Morning Weekend Recap - May 11, 2026

Morehead City, NC

Morehead City had plenty going on this past weekend with the CPM Billfish Tournament.

I rode along with Reel Priority Sportfishing for the tournament capturing all the chaos, bites, and excitement on camera. Friday turned into a great day on the water. We had a blue marlin bite at 9:06 a.m., but unfortunately pulled the hook. Later in the day, we came back and released two blue marlin.

Saturday slowed down for us a bit, but we still managed a gaffer dolphin along with several smaller mahi.

Overall, the tournament saw multiple blue marlin releases, some sailfish action, and decent dolphin fishing mixed in throughout the weekend.

The big story? The $97,000 prize rolls over to next year — so expect an even bigger purse in 2027.

Weather-wise, Friday was rough, but Saturday unexpectedly laid out nicely, and Sunday looked solid as well.

Oregon Inlet, NC

Further north in Oregon Inlet, it was a different story. From what we heard, Saturday brought some nasty weather up around Oregon Inlet. Even with the rough conditions, the yellowfin tuna bite was hot, with mahi and even some blue marlin releases mixed in.

This week, I'm headed to Hatteras, NC for the Hatteras Village Offshore Open. I’ll be riding along and filming all week, so stay tuned — I willl be posting the action in real time on Instagram and Facebok as everything unfolds.
