Girls Day Offshore: Tuna, Sharks & Memories Aboard Moana Sportfishing

Updated: Sep 30

When most people hear “girls day,” they picture mimosas, brunch, and spa treatments. For us? It looks a whole lot different. It means salt spray in our faces, rods bent over the gunwale, tuna blood on the deck, and laughter echoing across the wake.

This time, we had the honor of taking two young anglers out on their very first all-girls offshore trip aboard Moana Sportfishing. And let’s just say… they’re hooked for life.

A Day Full of Firsts

From the moment lines hit the water, the action didn’t stop. Blackfin tuna piled into the spread, and before long, the girls were cranking in fish after fish. By the end of the day, over 200 pounds of blackfin hit the deck—every fish a new victory, every reel scream another burst of excitement.

And just when they thought they’d seen it all, a hammerhead shark showed up to crash the party. After making a meal of one of our catches, the shark found itself hooked up and on the line—an adrenaline rush these girls won’t ever forget. The crew worked the fish carefully, bringing it boat-side before a safe release back into the deep.

Dolphins in the Wake

As the trip wound down and the bow turned toward home, a pod of dolphins joined us, weaving in and out of the wake, putting on a private show just for the crew. It was the perfect closing act on a day already packed with unforgettable moments.

Rain? What Rain?

Somewhere in the middle of the chaos, the sky opened up. But no one even noticed. With rods bent, drag screaming, and laughter rolling across the deck, the weather didn’t matter. This was a memory-making kind of day—the kind you talk about for years.

Why It Matters

For these two young girls, this wasn’t just a fishing trip—it was the start of something bigger. A chance to see firsthand the magic of the ocean, the power of teamwork, and the joy of pushing past limits. Offshore fishing has a way of doing that—of showing you just how strong you are, and just how fun it can be when you share it with the right crew.

Aboard Moana Sportfishing, they didn’t just catch fish. They caught the kind of confidence, adventure, and memories that will last forever.

When we say “girls day,” this is what we mean.
